I've had a homebirth practice since 1977. In the past 30+ years, I have assisted just over 2000 families birth their babies in the comfort and safety of their own homes.

Prior to my midwifery practice, I worked in Phoenix, Arizona, as a Labor/Deliver Room RN. It was my growing concern from watching births being managed and manipulated by medical intervention, resulting in medically induced complications and increased Cesarean Sections that drove me to seek a way to offer women an alternative way to birth their babies.

I offer a free consultation visit and provide complete prenatal care, nutritional counseling, labor/birth/postpartum and well woman care, serving women from the Denver metro area and north to the Wyoming border.   You can download my “Informed Choice Agreement” from my web site for more specific information about my practice.

I am a Certified Professional Midwife, registered to practice Colorado.  Midwifery has been the focus of my professional life for 20 years, and I have attended over 350 births in Colorado.  I currently live and have my office east of Boulder and so serve women and families throughout Boulder County, as well as the northern Denver metro area and Brighton.
My midwifery care emphasizes empowerment through trust in the body’s essential wisdom.  I am a certified massage therapist, and I bring several forms of bodywork together to my work as a midwife.  I use Mayan Abdominal massage to assist clients with all kinds of reproductive issues and to optimize uterine position and circulation, thereby making pregnancy and delivery more comfortable. I am also a graduate of the Colorado School of Energy Studies’ 2 year course in craniosacral therapy.  Craniosacral therapy is the best and most non-invasive way I know to assist babies on their embodiment adventure.

I was a doula supporting families through hospital birth for 7 years, began training as a midwife in 2004, and received my license to practice in 2008. It is my strong belief that birth can happen safely at home; and I'm grateful to know there is good medical care available when it's needed. Jeni Schraishuhn is a Registered Midwife who has been practicing for 30 years and has attended over 1,000 births.
