Our Mission
The Colorado Midwives Association was established to represent the direct-entry midwives of Colorado. The CMA acts as the driving legislative force for direct-entry midwives and homebirth. We are an inclusive organization. We support midwives of all races, religions, gender expressions, orientations, citizenships, abilities, and classes. The Colorado Midwives Association supports and promotes the option of birth at home for childbearing families in Colorado. The CMA facilitates communication and community among direct-entry midwives through conferences and workshops. We are always learning and growing as individuals and as an organization.

“In all cultures the midwife’s place is on the threshold of life, where intense human emotions
– fear, hope, longing, triumph and incredible physical power –
enable a new human being to emerge.
Her vocation is unique.”
